Cowboy Golf Looks To Extend Winning Streak At The Maxwell
May 11, 2007 | Cowboy Golf
Oklahoma State's sixth-ranked men's golf team will return to action on Saturday when it begins play at The Maxwell at Dornick Hills Country Club.
The tournament, which utilizes a unique format with all five players from each team playing in the same group, will get underway tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. with second-round action slated to begin at 2:15 p.m. Sunday's final round will start at 8 a.m.
OSU will begin its first round on No. 1 and will start on the 10th hole during the afternoon round.
Coming off a win at the Big 12 Championship, the Cowboys will be in search of their sixth consecutive team title in Ardmore. Overall, OSU has won eight times in the 15-year history of the event and has produced six individual champions.
The Cowboys came away with a four-stroke victory last season that began a string of three consecutive wins to close out the year, including the school's 10th national championship. OSU also produced last year's individual medalist as Jonathan Moore rolled to a seven-shot victory over the field. The triumph was the first of Moore's collegiate career and was the first of three-straight individual wins for the Vancouver, Wash. native.
This year's Cowboy starting five will include 2007 All-Big 12 pick Tyler Leon, sophomore Trent Leon, two-time Big 12 Player of the Year and 2007 Big 12 champion Pablo Martin, Moore and 2007 Big 12 runner-up Ryan Posey.
Freshmen Chris Ward and Trent Whitekiller will compete individually for OSU at the par-70, 6,453-yard layout.
