Cowboys Complete Last Major Spring Scrimmage
April 06, 2007 | Cowboy Football
The Cowboys worked on short yardage, as well as working out from their own end zone during the course of the scrimmage. All three quarterbacks, Bobby Reid, Zac Robinson and Alex Cate, saw plenty of action.
“We kept it under 100 plays and that was our goal,” said head coach Mike Gundy. “Overall our effort was good. Our players came out and had a great attitude and had some fun today.”
The scrimmage was highlighted by a pair of nice touchdown grabs by senior wide receiver Anthony Parks, the ground game of Julius Crosslin and a pair of interceptions by safety (and former receiver) Ricky Price.
“Ricky Price made some plays today,” Gundy said. “Julius Crosslin continues to get better and is really going to be a solid third (running back) for us there, and a guy we can use in short yardage. We've given him a lot of reps this spring to give him a chance to develop himself and understand the offense.
“This is the first spring he's just worked at tailback so he's settled in and done a nice job. We already have J.J. (John Johnson) and (Jeremiah) Burton at fullback and that gives him the opportunity to work at one position.”
Oklahoma State will practice on Monday and Wednesday of next week and will complete spring drills with Saturday's (April 14th) Orange-White game at Boone Pickens Stadium.
Gundy said that he and his staff will determine the format and rosters for the spring game early next week.
