Cowboy Spring Drills Continue Wednesday Afternoon
April 05, 2007 | Cowboy Football
The practice was the 11th of the Cowboys' 15 spring workouts. Spring drills will officially close April 14th with the Orange-White game at Boone Pickens Stadium.
“Today was a good practice,” said head coach Mike Gundy. “I told the football team it was much better (than last Monday). They started full speed and finished full speed with a nice goal-line drill at the end of practice.”
As practice enters the stretch run, the head coach is ready to call the spring a success to date.
“As a team we are further ahead than I thought we would be this spring,” he said. “Defensively we still have a ways to go; we have to learn some terminology and how to play the system. Our effort and attitude are much further along. And obviously, offensively, we are further along.”
Part of the offensive progression can be traced to sophomore receiver Artrell Woods, who continues to impress.
“He is one of the young receivers who are stepping up,” Gundy said. “The advantage is he has great speed. I don't use that term a lot but he is extremely fast. He will give us that threat like we had a few years ago with John Lewis on the other side of Rashaun Woods. I see Artrell as that kind of guy.”
