McBean, Hilliard Selected In NFL Draft
April 30, 2007 | Cowboy Football
Oklahoma State had two players selected in the 2007 NFL Draft. Defensive tackle Ryan McBean and offensive tackle Corey Hilliard both heard their names called Sunday.
McBean, a defensive tackle, was the first Cowboy when he was selected in the fourth round (132nd overall pick) by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
McBean becomes the first Cowboy defensive tackle selected by an NFL team since Kevin Williams went to Minnesota in the first round of the 2002 draft. McBean is the first OSU defensive lineman selected since defensive end Antonio Smith was taken in the fifth round by Arizona in 2005. He is also the first Cowboy selected by the Steelers since Jason Gildon was taken in the third round of the 1994 draft.
McBean attended Trinity High School in Euless, Texas, and Hinds Community College. As a senior at Oklahoma State, he had 25 tackles, including 4.5 quarterback sacks and seven tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
Hilliard was a consensus first-team all-conference offensive tackle. He was taken in the sixth round (209th overall) by the New England Patriots. A product of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, Hilliard is the second Cowboy offensive lineman taken in the draft in two years (Charles Johnson was taken by the Colts last season). Johnson and Hilliard are the only two OSU offensive linemen drafted since Paul Blair went to Chicago in the fourth round of the 1986 draft.
