Cowgirls Trip to Norman for John Jacobs Invite
April 12, 2007 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
OSU is coming off a weekend where it was led by senior Zivile Siksnelyte, who set a regional qualifying mark for the second time of her career in the triple jump.
Along with Siksnelyte, the Cowgirls also enter the weekend with three other NCAA Midwest Regional qualifiers, including juniors Alina Roman (discus), LaKendra Greathouse (shot put) and freshman Hanna Holst (3,000-meter steeplechase).
The Cowgirls will look to earn more qualifiers this weekend with the large number of competitors expected. Junior Deleanor Kirkpatrick, who is one of the leading candidates to earn a mark, enters the meet ranked No. 10 in the conference in the hammer throw.
Also among regional qualifying candidates include senior Moira Steyn (long jump and triple jump) junior Eva Tomankova (1,500-meter run), junior Brandi Broaddus (javelin), sophomores Tihana Sarac (400-meter hurdles), Merrit Dietz (discus) and Holst (1,500-meter run).
Big 12 foes Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska and Oklahoma are notable schools entered in the meet, along with in-state rival Oral Roberts.
OU will host the events with the javelin kicking things off at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
