Gundy Issues Challenge: 30,000 Fans At OSU Spring Game
March 09, 2007 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER -- The Oklahoma State football program is coming off of the PetroSun Independence Bowl victory over Alabama and it's fourth bowl appearance in five years. And head coach Mike Gundy has a message for orange-blooded fans: the 2007 season starts now.
"This is a chance to build on our momentum and kick-off the 2007 season with a bang," Gundy said. "I am challenging all of our supporters to show up for the spring game. I would love to see 30,000 fans in Boone Pickens Stadium."
The 'Cowboy Kickoff' spring game will be held Saturday, April 14, at Boone Pickens Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:30 pm. Admission is free.
"We want fans to come out and make a day of it," said Kyle Wray, OSU marketing director. "With a Cowboy baseball game (vs. Kansas State) at 2 p.m., plus tailgating and gameday activities in and around the stadium, special giveaways and maybe even some celebrity surprises, there will be plenty of fun for the entire family."
Approximately 15,000 OSU fans turned out for the scrimmage last spring.
"We hope everyone who attended last year will bring a friend or two," Wray added. "If that happens, we'll reach Coach Gundy's goal of 30,000 fans. We expect the Cowboy Kickoff to turn into a huge annual event."
