OSU Begins Spring Football Drills
March 06, 2007 | Cowboy Football
“It was a good practice,” head coach Mike Gundy said. “The attitude of our team is very good as you can imagine after the finish to last season. It's an interesting spring because we have quite a few veteran players and then we have a lot of young guys that need to step up.”
The Cowboys drilled without pads during the first of their 15 spring practices. The workout was the first at OSU for new defensive coordinator Tim Beckman.
“He is very enthusiastic, very aggressive and a straight shooter, Gundy said.
“We've got the new defense in and now we're just trying to learn it, fly to the football and improve,” said safety Andre Sexton, the 2006 Big 12 defensive freshman of the year. “We're trying to be a top 25 defense and we're willing to put in the work.”
Oklahoma State will practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week and next week before taking a week off for OSU's spring break.
“One thing about our team is that we have about 80 guys out there now and they are all going hard,” Gundy said. “The attitude is so good that if they don't practice hard everyone is on them so (attitude) takes care of itself.”
