2006 Indoor: In her first season at Oklahoma State, Steyn developed into one of OSU's top jumpers ... had the top mark out of the OSU jumpers in the long jump with a distance of 19-1.50 that came at the ISU Classic ... finished fifth in the event at the J.D. Martin Invitational ... claimed a 13th-place finish at the Big 12 Championships ... in the triple jump, she jumped a season best distance of 38-11.75 at the Big 12 Championships ... also collected two top-10 finishes in the event at the J.D. Martin Invitational and ISU Classic.
2006 Outdoor: Steyn led Oklahoma State with the top-two long jump performances ... jumped a season best distance of 19-4.25 at the Texas Relays ... claimed three top-five finishes at the John Jacobs Invitational, Tulsa Duels and Mean Green Invitational ... finished 14th in the event at the Big 12 Championships ... in the triple jump, she had a season best leap of 40-04 to finish second at the TCU Invitational ... also claimed two second-place honors at the John Jacobs Invitational and Mean Green Invitational.
Before OSU: Moira earned her top achievement in 2004, when she won the South African National Championship in the triple jump and finishing second in the long jump ... earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering in May 2005.
High School: During Steyn's young career, she placed second at the Junior National Championships in the triple jump and third in the long jump ... also competed on the netball team.
Personal: Steyn was born March 28, 1983 ... plans to seek a master's degree in industrial engineering ... enjoys reading, camping, hiking, hanging out at the beach and going to the movies with her friends ... favorite movies are Moulin Rouge and Chicago ... trained with the same coach for nine years before arriving at OSU ... Moira has two sisters, Sune and Joanet ... is the daughter of Johan and Susan Steyn.
