Cowboys Continue Winning Ways Against Nicholls State

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State increased its winning streak to four games and clinched a series win with a 10-1 victory over Nicholls State on Saturday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
The 21st-ranked Cowboys racked up 13 hits as they improved to 9-3, while Nicholls State dropped to 3-9.
As they did in the series opener, the Cowboys jumped out to an early lead as they plated three runs in their first at bat. In the inning, OSU also continued a season-long trend of driving in runs with two outs.
Steve Ptak got the scoring started for the Cowboys with a two-out single that scored Corey Brown and Tyler Mach. Rebel Ridling then delivered an RBI triple to center field to make the score 3-0.
Up 3-1 in the third, OSU added to its lead. Brian Taylor's first-career RBI came on a fielder's choice and made the score 4-1, and Kevin David and Matt Lopez each drove in runs with sacrifice flies to give the Cowboys a 6-1 advantage.
Senior right hander Oliver Odle picked up the win on the mound as he allowed just one run in six innings of work to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Mach led the Cowboys with three hits on the day, while Ptak, David and Lopez were each 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
OSU will try to extend its win streak with a series sweep of the Colonels on Sunday at 1 p.m.
