Cowgirl Track and Field Set for Busy Weekend
March 29, 2007 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
OSU, which is coming off of a solid season opener at the Tulsa Duels, will travel a majority of its team to the UTA Invitational.
The Cowgirls will look to kick things off with solid performances from seniors Zivile Sikneslyte and Moira Steyn, and sophomores Baiba Blumbaha, Mateja Posavec and Breanna Reavis as they will have double duty by competing in the long jump and triple jump.
OSU's throwers will also have a busy day as juniors Alina Roman and LaKendra Greathouse, sophomore Merritt Dietz and freshman Julie Rader will throw the discus and shot put. Roman is the lone Cowgirl with a regional qualifying mark, as she threw the discus a distance of 169-04 (50.22-meters) in the season opener.
Junior Deleanor Kirkpatrick will look to set a qualifying standard in the hammer throw for the second consecutive season, while also competing in the shot put.
OSU will look to get added support from sophomores Kalea Tam and Tihana Sarac in the 400-meter hurdles, while junior Meghan Sullivan will compete in the 1,500-meter run.
At the Stanford Invitational, freshmen Hanna Holst (3,000-meter steeplechase) and Tone Hjalmarsen (10,000-meter) are prime candidates of setting regional marks in their respected events.
Juniors Eva Tomankova and Maria Trejo will look to run well as they're set to compete in the 1,500-meter and 10,000-meter run, respectively.
The meet will feature some of the top programs in the country, including Big 12 rivals
