“We had a lot of positives today,” head coach John Smith said. “Johny looked good and I thought Coleman (Scott) had a very solid day. I think it hurt Nate (Morgan) a little bit not to have that first round match. There is not a lot of disappointment.

Hendricks had little trouble with Purdue's Justin Fraga as he quickly jumped out to a 9-2 lead at the end of the first period. He extended the lead in the second period and needed just a takedown in the third period to complete the technical fall. He got it with exactly a minute left in the match to win 20-5.
Brandon Mason backed up his first round upset with a victory over Cornell's Joey Hooker, to advance to tomorrow's quarterfinals. Mason scored the first point of the match with an escape in the third period. He scored a takedown at the buzzer and won, 3-0.
