Cowboys Advance Five after First Round of NCAA Championships

Tyler Shinn scored a 5-2 decision over Army's Fernando Martinez, and Coleman Scott recorded a major decision, 11-1, over Omar Gaitan of UC-Davis. Scott lost his first round match last year and was forced to come back through the wrestlebacks to earn All-America honors.
Nathan Morgan advanced to the second round virtue of a bye in the first round. Morgan will wrestle J Jaggers of Ohio State in the second round, who defeated Max Meltzer of Harvard in the first round.
Hendricks won his first match by fall over pig-tail winner Daniel Atondo. Hendricks needed just 72 seconds to dispatch of Atondo.
Mason pulled a first round upset defeating third-seeded Steve Luke of
Newly McSpadden and Jack Jensen both lost to No. 2 seeds in the first round. McSpadden lost a 7-3 decision to Brian Stith of
Jared Rosholt went into the third period scoreless with top-seeded Cole Konrad of Minnesota, but Konrad scored a reversal and three-near fall points and went on to win 8-2.
