Pepperdine Snaps Cowboys? Win Streak

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end Saturday as 10th-ranked Pepperdine topped the No. 16 Cowboys, 7-3, at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
OSU managed just five hits in the contest as the Cowboys dropped to 12-4, while the Waves used a big first inning to help them improve to 15-5.
The Cowboys fell behind in the opening inning as Pepperdine plated three runs in the top of the first against OSU starter Oliver Odle.
Adrian Ortiz led off the game with a triple and scored on a triple by Eric Thames, and a two-run home run by Donald Brown gave the Waves a 3-0 lead.
The Waves added to their lead in the third and fourth innings, getting an RBI single from Thames in the third and a solo home run by Chase d'Arnaud in the fourth to make the score 5-0.
OSU did not get a hit off Pepperdine starter Brett Hunter (3-1) until the fourth inning, and it would be the sixth before the Cowboys finally got on the scoreboard.
With OSU trailing 6-0, Corey Brown led off the bottom of the sixth with a triple. Brown would score on an RBI sacrifice fly by Matt Mangini.
The Cowboys added a run in the seventh when Dusty Harvard scored on a wild pitch, and they trimmed the lead to 7-3 in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single by Ty Wright.
But with two on and the tying run on deck, Tyler Mach flied out to center field to end the game as Jason Dominguez earned his seventh save of the season.
Odle suffered the loss for the Cowboys to fall to 2-2 as he lasted just three innings and gave up five runs on six hits.
Sunday's series-deciding finale has been rescheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
