February 07, 2007 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
OSU is coming off a solid outing at last weekend's J.D. Martin Invitational in Norman, Okla., where the team claimed an individual title and five personal record performances.
Senior Zivile Siksnelyte, who has yet to place any lower than third in a meet this season, will look to set a qualifying mark in either the long jump or triple jump. The Vilnius, Lithuania, product leads the team with five titles this season - three in the triple jump and two in the long jump. Other jumpers who will compete in both events include senior Moira Steyn and sophomore multi-event athlete Baiba Blumbaha.
The Cowgirls will then look to junior LaKendra Greathouse to continue her success in the shot put as she is coming off a first-place finish at last weekend's meet. Sophomore Merritt Dietz will also see action in the event.
In the weight throw, the Cowgirls will be represented by juniors Deleanor Kirkpatrick and Branighan Vann.
Oklahoma State will then look for solid performances from a number of student-athletes in the running events. Freshman Hanna Holst and junior Stephanie Lovely will run the 3,000-meter, while juniors Maria Trejo and Megan Sullivan, sophomore Brittany Mason and redshirt freshman Anissa Angelosante will compete in the 5k.
Junior Eva Tomankova, who is coming off second-place showing in the 1,000-meter run at last week's meet, will look to repeat with another solid performance in the mile run.
Other Cowgirls to watch for include junior Lauren McKee (long jump and 600-yard dash), sophomores Tihana Sarac (600-yard dash) and Mateja Posavec (triple jump) and freshman Destyn Stallings (high jump).
Iowa State will host the two-day meet with the women's weight throw kicking things off Friday at 2:00 p.m.
