OSU Football Season Ticket Renewal Campaign Underway
February 05, 2007 | Cowboy Football
“Our football program is definitely heading in the right direction,” said OSU's Athletic Director, Mike Holder. “The 2006 season was certainly one of the most exciting in recent memories. We were within a handful of plays of having a historic season. Great strides were made by the team from 2005 to 2006 and there is every reason to believe the 2007 Cowboys could be one of our best teams in many years.”
This year, OSU introduces a new online season ticket purchasing program and new payment plans aimed at making it as easy as possible for current Cowboy season ticket holders to acquire their 2007 season tickets. The payment plans provides flexibility, according to OSU.
The two plans offer a choice of either four or five installments with the first payment not due until either March 1 or April 1 depending on the plan. When using one of the online payment plans the final payment is not due until July 1, 2007. Season ticket holders preferring to purchase their tickets in full have until May 1, 2007 to make payment.
“We are responding to many Cowboy football fans who told us they wanted a more convenient way to purchase their season tickets and more payment options,” said Tom Johnson, head of OSU's ticket operations. “This fan-friendly approach to season ticket renewals supports our desire in ticket operations to do our best to take care of our great fans.”
Details on the OSU online season ticket purchasing program are available by clicking on the ticket icon on the OSU athletic website at www.okstate.com and following the instructions. Information is also available by calling toll-free 877- 2B-POSSE for information.
Season ticket prices for 2007 are set at $359.00 per ticket for 6 home games, which includes games against Big 12 South powers Texas and Texas Tech, as well as solid north rivals Kansas State and Kansas. While the season ticket price has increased $64 (a little more than $10 a game) over 2006, donor seating prices will remain the same as last year. Donor information will be sent in late February.
“We try to strike a balance between affordability, value and revenue considerations when it comes to setting ticket and donor seating prices,” commented Craig Clemons, Vice President of Athletic Development. “Last year's increase in donor seating placed us in the middle of the pack with our Big 12 peers. Consequently, as our football program continues to improve, we are on track to strengthen our overall financial position, and, ultimately, become totally self-sufficient where revenues generated by a championship caliber athletic program cover every athletic expense. While we have a ways to go to achieve our goal, we are making progress and we deeply appreciate Cowboy fans for continuing to step up.”
OSU Athletics started the year with a major donation given by OSU alumnus Sherman Smith. The $20 million gift will be used to build a world-class multi-sports practice facility north of the modernized and expanded Boone Pickens Stadium.
“We have received over $200 million in donations to construct new athletic facilities in the past two years,” said Holder. “Cowboy fans know the generous donations from Boone Pickens, Sherman Smith and several others are designated to build new facilities, including completing the enormous west end zone project, which will expand Boone Pickens Stadium to a capacity of 60,000.
“Season ticket and donor seating revenues are important because they fund operations, which include paying down and eventually eliminating our debt,” Holder added. “While today we are at a disadvantage to our Big 12 peers because our football stadium has the smallest seating capacity in the conference, the expanded Boone Pickens Stadium bodes well for us long-term.”
OSU will open its 2007 football season on national television against SEC foe Georgia on the road September 1. The OSU/Georgia rematch will be a historic event as the centerpiece of a celebration to mark the official opening of the expanded Boone Pickens Stadium in 2009.
