Vail Leads Cowboys on First Day of Conference Meet

Cowboy sophomore Peter Doroshuk advanced to Saturday's finals with his performance in the one-mile run. Doroshuk finished eighth with a time of 4:09.07, breaking his previous personal record by 12 seconds.
Also in the one-mile run, senior Ryan Ripley finished 13th with a time of 4:15.46. Cowboy freshman Ryan Birkholz finished 15th with a time of 4:21.93 and sophomore Marshall Summa finished 16th with a time of 4:23.33.

In the distance medley relay, Ripley and Josserand teamed up with Cowboy sophomore Matt Barnes-Smith and freshman Sean Fleming to finish ninth with a time of 9:58.59. It was a tough race for the Pokes as the top six teams broke the previous Big 12 record in the event.
“We have some mixed feelings about the day,” said Smith. “Some of our guys came out and ran very well while we had others who walked away a bit disappointed.
