The Cowboys are 5-1 after winning two of their three games at the FAU Beach Ball Bash over the weekend. OSU opened the tourney with an 8-2 victory over La Salle as Matt Gardner earned his seventh-straight win on the mound. On Saturday, the Cowboys suffered their first loss of 2007 as four errors cost them in a 9-6 loss to an undefeated Florida Atlantic squad. OSU bounced back with a 19-4 drubbing of Ball State in its tourney finale. The Cowboys collected 18 hits in the contest, with Corey Brown smashing two home runs and racking up a career-high six RBIs. OSU returns to action Friday when they open a three-game series at Cal State-Northridge.
Cal State-Northridge
The Matadors are 8-6 on the season, including a 3-3 mark on their home field. CSUN's eight wins is the most in the Big West Conference, and the Matadors count two wins apiece against UNLV and Pacific, as well as wins over Fresno State and Washington State.
The Coaches
OSU's Frank Anderson is 118-70 in his fourth season with the Cowboys.
The Matadors are led by fifth-year head coach Steve Rousey, who is 86-152 at CSUN.
In The Polls
OSU's highest ranking is No. 16 by the NCBWA. The Cowboys are ranked 17th by Baseball America, 23rd by USA Today and 23rd by Collegiate Baseball. CSUN is not ranked.

Aluminum Assault
Frank Anderson called his 2006 squad the best offensive team he's had since arriving in Stillwater, and it's scary to think the Cowboys could be even better in 2007.
In '06, OSU led the Big 12 in extra base hits with 242, including topping the conference in home runs (84), triples (32) and slugging percentage (.521). OSU also ranked second in team batting average (.316) and runs (443), and seven different Cowboys batted at least .300.
In addition, OSU had three players — Tyler Mach, Deik Scram and Corey Brown — among the top 20 in the league in batting average.
OSU also averaged 7.3 runs and 11.2 hits per game. The Cowboys scored 10 or more runs 17 times and had 16 games where they racked up at least 15 hits.
The Cowboys are continuing that type of production at the plate in 2007. OSU leads the Big 12 in batting average (.344), slugging percentage (.557) and triples (7) and has three players — Tyler Mach, Matt Mangini and Keanon Simon — among the top eight hitters in the league. OSU is averaging 8.8 runs and 12.7 hits per contest in '07.
