OSU Soccer Holds Annual Banquet
February 20, 2007 | Cowgirl Soccer
OSU had its best season in school history with a second-place Big 12 finish and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cowgirls finished the season with a 17-3-3 record and were ranked as high as seventh nationally.
It was no surprise that All-American Yolanda Odenyo took home most of the individual team honors. Odenyo was named the team's Offensive Player of the Year, Most Inspirational and the Team MVP.
Senior defender Katie Lacey was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Lacey scored a career high four goals, including two to force overtime against Iowa State. Freshman defender Bridget Miller made 21 starts in her first collegiate season and took home Newcomer of the Year.
Erin Stigler was inserted in goal midway through the season and made 15 starts. In those 15 starts, Stigler recorded a single season record of eight shutouts. She was named the Most Improved Player of the Year.
Freshman Siera Strawser was given the Coaches' Award for her hard work during the season, and Sasa Jackson received the Bob Conner Award for her hard work with little recognition. Jackson will go down as the first Cowgirl to score an NCAA Tournament goal.
The Cowgirls will look to build on the momentum gained last season with a deeper run in the NCAA Tournament in 2007.
