Cowboy Football Team Arrives In Arizona
December 27, 2007 | Cowboy Football
After much of OSU's travel party bused from Stillwater to Oklahoma City, they boarded a flight to Phoenix, leaving the snowy conditions of Oklahoma and arriving in sunny Arizona. They arrived a Sky Harbor Airport, where they were greeted by a raucous group that included members of the bowl committee and a mariachi band.
The Cowboys arrived at the team hotel early Wednesday afternoon, and then left for practice at Tempe's Corona Del Sol High School.
OSU head coach Mike Gundy called Wednesday's practice, which lasted close to two hours, one of the best of the season.
“There was a lot of enthusiasm and guys flying around  I thought we practiced really well,” Gundy said.
The following are quotes from several Cowboy players following Wednesday's practice.
Senior defensive end Nathan Peterson
On Wednesday's practice
“It was a pretty sharp practice for having four days off. We came back and seemed to pick up right where we left off.”
On being in Tempe for the Insight Bowl
“Everyone got to go home and see their families, but we were ready to get back and get this thing rolling. We're in a fun city, and it's exciting to be here. We're playing a good team, and the weather is great  you couldn't ask for much better in December.”
Sophomore center Andrew Lewis
On playing in his first bowl game
“I'm excited to play in my first bowl game. It's a little bit different. There's not so much pressure, and it's fun to go out there and play a team you don't play year in and year out. (Indiana) is a challenge for us. They have a good defense, and we're looking forward to the challenge.”
On the importance of winning a bowl game
“It's important to get a win and get some momentum because it will help in recruiting. It also gives you an edge coming off a winning season when you're running and lifting and getting ready for next year.”
