Cowgirls Honored By Soccer Buzz Magazine

STILLWATER, Okla. — Four Oklahoma State Cowgirls have been honored by Soccer Buzz Magazine for their exploits during the 2007 season.
Junior Yolanda Odenyo was named first-team All-Central Region by the online publication, while sophomores Siera Strawser and Bridget Miller garnered second-team All-Central Region honors. Earning a spot on the Central Region All-Freshman team was Annika Niemeier.
Odenyo, Strawser, Miller and Niemeier helped lead OSU to a 14-6-3 record in '07 as the Cowgirls advanced to the second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship for the second-consecutive season.
A junior midfielder, Odenyo was a first-team All-Big 12 selection who started all 23 games for the Cowgirls this season. The Uppsala, Sweden native tied for second on the squad with 17 points as she recorded seven goals and notched three assists.
Odenyo, who was the Soccer Buzz Central Region Player of the Yearn in 2006, is also one of 14 finalists for the 2007 Soccer Buzz National Player of the Year.
Strawser, who was named a freshman All-American by Soccer Buzz in 2006, followed that with another strong season as she led OSU with eight goals in 2007, including four in conference play. A midfielder, Strawser also had an assist to finish tied with Odenyo for second on the squad with 17 points.
A member of the Soccer Buzz Central Region All-Freshman team a year ago, Miller started all 23 games at defender as a sophomore and was a key part of a defense that allowed just 20 goals and posted 10 shutouts.
Niemeier redshirted last season due to injury, but her first season in a Cowgirl uniform proved productive as she started 21 games and recorded 12 points. A native of Germany, Niemeier was second on the squad with six assists and also added three goals.
