IRVING, Texas  Oklahoma State had a conference-leading 13 players named to the 2007 Academic All-Big 12 Conference soccer team, it was announced by the league office Tuesday.
OSU's 13 selections is a school record, besting its previous high of 12 in 2006. The Cowgirls also led the Big 12 in academic all-conference selections last season.
“It's a testament to the hard work of Agatha Adams and the rest of our academic services staff, as well as the dedication our players have towards succeeding in the classroom,” said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael.
The Cowgirls had 11 players earn first-team Academic All-Big 12 honors, equaling their total of a year ago, while two players made the second team. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second teamers are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
Earning first-team accolades for OSU were seniors Niccole Grimaldi, Sasa Jackson and Stephanie Lovely; juniors Jessica Jarrell, Jamie Markaverich, Yolanda Odenyo and Erin Stigler; sophomores Kasey Langdon, Bridget Miller and Andrea Sartin; and redshirt freshman Annika Niemeier.
For Grimmaldi and Jackson, their selections mark the third-straight year they have been named to the first team, while Jarrell, Markaverich, Odenyo and Stigler have made the first team in each of their two eligible seasons.
Senior Adriane Radtke and sophomore Siera Strawser were the Cowgirls' second-team Academic All-Big 12 selections. Radtke is a three-time honoree, having made the first team in 2004 and 2006.
