Cowgirl Soccer Duo Earns All-Conference Honors

For the third consecutive season, junior midfielder Yolanda Odenyo was recognized. Last year's Big 12 Co-Player of the Year, the Uppsala, Sweden native earned first-team honors for the second year in a row after being named a second-team pick as a freshman.
On the season, Odenyo has scored four of her team-high five goals in Big 12 play. One of 46 players on the watch list for the Hermann Trophy, which is presented annually to the top player in the nation, she was also named to the all-tournament team in both of OSU's tournaments this year.
“It has been another great season for Yolanda and she is very deserving of being honored,” Cowgirl head coach Colin Carmichael said. “It shows that the coaches recognize her as one of the best players in the conference.”
Joining Odenyo on the honors list was freshman defender Allyson Leggett, who was named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team. A native of Jenks, Okla., Leggett has helped anchor a Cowgirl defense that has recorded nine shutouts this season and allowed just 14 goals. Both totals rank second in the conference.
“Allyson did a great job of coming in and starting for us and has been very solid in the back,” Carmichael said. “To be able to stand out against the very talented forwards in the league is tremendous and we expect great things out of her as she continues to mature.”
The Cowgirls enter this week's Big 12 Championship in San Antonio, Texas as the No. 6 seed and will open play against third-seeded Kansas on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
