Pablo Martin Tied For 56th At Mayakoba Golf Classic

Oklahoma State junior Pablo Martin opened play at the PGA Tour's Mayakoba Golf Classic on Thursday with an even-par 70 to stand in a tie for 56th place at the El Camaleon Golf Club.
Playing on a sponsor's exemption, Martin was one of 73 players of the 142 that started to shoot par or better in the PGA Tour's debut in Mexico. The 2006 national collegiate player of the year will begin his second round eight shots behind tournament leader Fred Funk.
The Malaga, Spain native bogeyed his third hole before posting a birdie on No. 6 to make the turn with an even-par 35. Martin tallied birdies on Nos. 13 and 17 to offset bogeys at the 14th and 18th holes to get in with his even-par total.
Martin will begin his second round tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. and will be paired with Charlie Wi and Michael Putnam.
