Cowboy Golf Falls In Consolation Bracket At Collegiate Match Play

Oklahoma State's men's golf team lost its consolation match against Minnesota, 3-2, on Monday at the Callaway Golf Collegiate Match Play at Reynolds Plantation.
The fifth-seeded Cowboys got a 5-and-3 victory at the top position from freshman Rickie Fowler. The Murrieta, Calif. native won his first hole against the Gophers' Andy Paulson and closed out the match by winning four of his final nine holes.
Junior Jon McLean led for most of his match against Thomas Campbell before Campbell squared the match on their 16th hole and won the 17th on his way to a 1-up victory.
Senior Trent Leon also battled in a tight match with Clayton Rask. The Dallas, Texas native found himself 2-down with two to play before winning the 17th, but Rask was able to close out the match by halving the final hole for a 1-up victory.
Sophomore Trent Whitekiller moved to 2-0 in the event with a 2-and-1 win over Victor Almstrom. In the match, Whitekiller won four of the final six holes to erase a 1-down deficit.
Ben Pisani claimed the third team point for Minnesota with his 3-and-2 win over freshman Mark Johnson.
