Cowgirls Drop 1-0 Decision At Texas Tech
October 21, 2007 | Cowgirl Soccer
LUBBOCK, Texas  Oklahoma State gave up a goal off a free kick in the 73rd minute and suffered a 1-0 to Texas Tech Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, the 18th-ranked Cowgirls dropped to 10-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in Big 12 Conference play. Texas Tech improved to 6-6-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the league.
“Texas Tech has a small field and it was very windy, and that makes for a scrappy game,” said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael. “The ball goes out of play a lot, and it's hard to get in a rhythm. It's ugly, but that's how they play.
“They scored off a free kick, and that's disappointing. We created six or eight good scoring chances and missed so we have no one but ourselves to blame. We played hard, but we should have finished it off.”
At the 72:23 mark, Texas Tech's Brittney Harrison headed a free kick from Sarabeth Clopton past OSU goalie Erin Stigler for the game's only goal.
OSU outshot the Red Raiders, 18-11, in the match and held a 5-3 advantage on corner kicks, but TTU goalie Tina Rincon recorded the shutout with seven saves.
Stigler had six saves for the Cowgirls as she became just the third goalie in OSU history to record 100 or more saves in her career. The junior now has 104 saves over the last three seasons.
OSU returns to Big 12 action Friday when they host Texas at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex before a Sunday showdown against Colorado.
