Cowgirls Battle Kansas To 2-2 Draw

LAWRENCE, Kan. Â Oklahoma State battled Kansas for 110 minutes Friday afternoon at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex, but after two overtimes, the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Siera Strawser and Yolanda Odenyo both had goals for the 23rd-ranked Cowgirls, who are now 8-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in Big 12 Conference play.
Kansas (3-8-3, 1-1-2) took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute on Shannon McCabe's third goal of the season. McCabe's shot found the back of the net on the far post off an assist from Nicole Cauzillo.
The Cowgirls got the equalizer with 15:06 remaining in the first half. Annika Niemeier sent a cross into the box where Strawser booted it in left footed to tie the score at 1-1. The goal was Strawser's second of the season, while Niemeier recorded her fourth assist.
The score remained tied until the match's 59th minute when KU scored off a free kick. Monica Dolinsky sent the free shot into the box where Nicole Cauzillo found the back of the net to give the Jayhawks a 2-1 advantage.
But again, OSU would answer. This time it was Odenyo collecting her third goal of the season off a cross from Kasey Langdon in the match's 71st minute. The assist was Langdon's team-leading fifth of the season.
OSU outshot the Jayhawks 23-10 in the match, including 6-2 in the overtime periods. Odenyo's 11 shots led the way.
Erin Stigler played all 110 minutes in goal and recorded five saves for the Cowgirls, who are now 2-0-2 in overtime games this season.
The Cowgirls return to action Sunday at 1 p.m. when they take on Big 12-leader Missouri in Columbia, Mo.
