Cowboys Ranked 22nd By Baseball America
January 05, 2007 | Cowboy Baseball
The Cowboys are coming off a 41-20 season in which they were a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and finished ranked No. 23 nationally. Coach Frank Anderson's club returns six position starters and seven pitchers from that 2006 squad.
Baseball America referred to OSU's offense as “scary good.” The Cowboys return much of the lineup that led the Big 12 Conference in home runs, triples and slugging percentage and finished second in batting average and runs. Five of the Cowboys' returning starters hit over .300 in 2006.
Rice is Baseball America's preseason choice as No. 1, with Miami (Fla.), Clemson, Texas and North Carolina rounding out the top five. The only other Big 12 team ranked in the top 25 is No. 17 Nebraska.
Oklahoma State opens the 2007 season against Hofstra on February 2 in Stillwater.
