Cowgirls Set to Compete at ISU Classic
January 17, 2007 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
In their last meeting, the Cowgirls were led by senior Zivile Siksnelyte in the triple jump and junior LaKendra Greathouse in the shot put as they both collected first-place honors in their respected events at the KSU Invitational, on January 6.
The duo will return to the field looking to better their season high marks as well as earning an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Siksnelyte, who has yet to finish lower than second-place in a meet this season, will also compete in the long jump. The Cowgirls will also get looks from senior Moira Steyn, and sophomores Baiba Blumbaha, Tihana Sarac and Breanna Reavis in the event. Sarac will also compete in the 600-yard run and 60-meter hurdles.
Greathouse, who ranks seventh in the conference, enters the meet with a season best throw of 46-4.75 (14.50-meters) in the shot put. The Cowgirls hope to get added support in the event from sophomore Merritt Dietz and freshman Julie Rader.
The Cowgirls will also see action from junior Deleanor Kirkpatrick in the weight throw.
The meet will feature the season debut for three distance runners - junior Kim Blomkvist and freshmen Hanna Holst and Tone Hjalmarsen  as they will see action in the 3,000-meter run.
Eva Slavikova will open her senior campaign by competing in the mile run.
Iowa State will host the events with the weight throw kicking things off at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
