Cowgirls Head West to Face Cal Poly and Loyola Marymount

Oklahoma State is making its second visit to California in its 11-year history when it visits Los Angeles for the Loyola Marymount Tournament. OSU will face Cal Poly on Friday at 3 p.m. (CST) before tangling with host Loyola Marymount on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. (CST). OSU is 0-1-1 against schools from California. In 1997, the second year of the OSU soccer program, the Cowgirls went on the road and tied Cal-State Sacramento and lost to Pacific. Cal Poly comes into the weekend with a 2-2 record after falling to Stanford, 2-0. The Mustangs boast a big win over No. 20 Pepperdine, and a 5-0 triumph over San Jose State. Ashley Vallis leads the team in goals with three. Alli Tramel has started all four games in goal for Cal Poly and has a GAA of 1.57. She has recorded 19 saves on the season. Loyola Marymount is 1-0-2 on the year. The Lions tied San Jose State and have a key win over Oregon. Loyola has had three different players score each of their four goals and a different player assisted on each of them. Jamie Bell leads the team in goals with two after scoring the game tying goal against UC Santa Barbara, and she leads the team with 12 shots. Joslyn Slovek has played every minute in goal this season and has recorded 13 saves. She has a GAA of 0.87.

Last Week
Oklahoma State improved to 3-0-1 over the weekend with a win and a tie in the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge. The Cowgirls defeated Michigan State, 2-0, before tying Michigan, 1-1, to close out the weekend. Jesyca Rosholt scored the game winner, her third goal of the season, in the 26th minute. Siera Strawser, who assisted Rosholt on the goal, scored two minutes later to ice the contest for OSU. The Cowgirls limited Michigan State's looks at the goal as they only took seven shots, two in the second half. Jeanne Rankin was the beneficiary of the OSU defense as she recorded her first shutout of the season. OSU was looking for the Michigan sweep on Sunday. Jesyca Rosholt scored the go-ahead goal in the 80th minute to put OSU on top 1-0. Michigan was able to even the score with just over a minute left in regulation and force overtime. The Cowgirls had the best opportunity in overtime getting off a point blank shot that was saved and the game ended in a draw.

Strawser Making an Immediate Impact
Freshman Siera Strawser has made an immediate impact for Oklahoma State this fall. The Bixby, Okla. native has started every game and has registered a point in every contest thus far. Strawser leads the team with nine points on two goals and five assists. Her five assists are tied for the Big 12 lead.

Going Home
Sophomore defender Niccole Grimaldi is returning home when OSU visits Los Angeles for two games this weekend. Grimaldi's hometown of Los Alamitos is a 21-miles from Los Angeles where the Cowgirls will be playing at Loyola Marymount's Sullivan Field. Grimaldi's parents have flown out to Stillwater to see their daughter play, but it will be the first time for many members of her extended family to see her play at the collegiate level. Grimaldi estimates she will have at least 10 members of her family in attendance. OSU will have a team dinner at the Grimaldi house this weekend.

Non-conference Streak
Oklahoma State has gone unbeaten in its non-conference schedule the last four years. Overall the Cowgirls have gone 42 games without a loss to a regular season non-conference opponent dating back to a 1-0 loss to Oral Roberts on Sept. 23, 2001. OSU is 38-0-4 during the current streak. The Cowgirls did lose to Auburn in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament.
