Oklahoma State Set to Host 70th-Annual Cowboy Jamboree
September 29, 2006 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
OSU will run primarily its “A” team, as it will compete against 18 other squads. Big 12-rival Kansas State, Wichita State, Tulsa, Houston and Texas Christian are among the others competing.
The Jamboree will be the season opening meet for four of OSU's top returnees, including seniors Mary Davies, Eva Slavikova, junior Eva Tomankova and sophomore Nina Andersson. The four led the Cowgirls to a first-place showing at last year's Jamboree, where Davies and Tomankova each collected top-10 finishes.
The Cowgirls will also be represented by nine other runners who have seen action in the first two meets this season. The pack includes junior Meghan Sullivan, sophomores Brittany Mason, JennaRae Downs, Maria Trejo, Jennifer Clarke and freshmen Tone Hjalmarsen, Hanna Holst and Leah Schroeder.
Cowgirls Ranked 4th
After an impressive 10th-place showing at last year's NCAA Championships, the Cowgirls earned the No. 4 spot in the USTFCCCA Preseason Poll that was released September 12. It marks the highest ranking OSU has earned in the 26-year history of the program.
