Junior midfielder Yolanda Odenyo and sophomore goalkeeper Erin Stigler were named Big 12 Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week after they led Oklahoma State to a pair of victories over regionally ranked opponents; it was announced by the conference office today.
Odenyo, a native of Uppsala, Sweden, scored two goals over the weekend, including a goal in the 106th minute to beat Kansas in double overtime. Odenyo followed it up with a penalty kick goal against No. 11 Colorado. She is currently tied for the team lead with four goals and 12 points on the season.
Stigler, a native of Round Rock, Texas, made her first career starts in goal over the weekend. Stigler made her first start against Kansas and recorded three saves en route to the shutout. She backed it up with another solid outing against Colorado. Stigler recorded three saves in the game, including a diving stop in the first half that kept the Cowgirls in the game.
Oklahoma State plays Texas A&M tomorrow night at 7 p.m. The game is being delayed by the Fox Soccer Channel can be seen at 10:30 p.m.
