Oklahoma State Head Coach Mike Gundy
On the game
“It was a good win for us. Obviously, the defense played very well. They had a fast start and put a lot of pressure on them. They slowed the run game down, put pressure on the quarterback and forced some turnovers. The offense started off slow, but they picked it up quicker than they did last week. We are still executing fine on offense on all the fundamentals. We need to get more chunk plays. We do not get enough big plays. We need to force more turnovers on defense.”
On Calvin Roberts' status
“Calvin Roberts is going to be fine. He is moving. They took cautionary measures carrying him off on the board.”
On his team's personal fouls
“I'm not happy with the penalties. We had some personal fouls. We had a block out of bounds by (Anthony) Parks, and (Adarius) Bowman clipped a guy in the back. Quinton Moore got a 15-yard penalty as well. Those are things that we cannot have. We need to eliminate those penalties.”
On sophomore quarterback Bobby Reid
“Bobby played okay. Bobby has to be more accurate in the throwing game. He ran the ball fine. There were a couple of times early that I didn't like the way he ran. He has a long way to go. He has to get better. When he has guys in the open field, he has to hit them.”
On the upcoming week
“We are very excited to be 3-0. We are looking forward to a great week of preparation and going down to play another bowl team. They are a good team. They are well-coached, and they have a four-year starter at quarterback that is a play maker. We will have our hands full, but we look forward to the challenge and a good week of practice.”
Oklahoma State locker room quotes
Marque Fountain
On the defensive line's play thus far
“We knew after the spring we were going to have a good defensive line. We know if everybody plays up to their ability our defensive line can be successful every game.”
On finally playing healthy
“I have been injured, and it has taken almost a year and a half to get back. That kind of takes it out of you. I am starting to get back into a groove. The coaches are starting to have more confidence in me so I have to keep it up. I have to give the team everything I can give them.”
On the schedule
“Some people have made a big deal about the teams we have played, but we cannot help that. We just have to go out and play to win. I tell my teammates it does not matter who we play. If we play every team the way we are capable, we will be successful.”
OSU Player Quotes
Junior Defensive End Nathan Peterson
On the first team defense not allowing any points thus far
“It was something we were focusing on since the first game. The two's got in there and gave up a touchdown and that hurts, but then again it's important that they get in and get some experience.”
On his health
“It feels really good to not have a lagging feeling when I'm out there playing. Last year, I felt like a different person. This year, I can't tell any difference between either leg.”
Junior Wide Receiver Adarius Bowman
On his touchdown
“Once again, it felt good. I don't really know what to say. I was just trying to make a big play. I looked up and saw my receivers blocking downfield, and it didn't look like they had a lot of people back there. I knew if I could make one person miss I had a chance to get there.”
On his expectations of himself
“I just want to make however many plays it takes for us to win. When my opportunity comes I just want to make the best of it.”
Sophomore Running Back Mike Hamilton
On what he likes about this team
“Winning. Not just winning, but winning big.”
On Dantrell Savage's debut
“He had a big run, and I was happy for him. He was pretty tired after that long run. He's gotta do some more running. He hasn't really been doing as much because of the knee.”
