Cowgirl Soccer Begins Big 12 play with Bedlam rival Oklahoma

Oklahoma State went 1-1 in the Loyola Marymount Tournament and moved its record to 4-1-1. OSU got a goal from Siera Strawser in the 26th minute, which proved to be the game winner over Cal Poly. The Cowgirls out shot the Mustangs 16-3 in the contest. Jeanne Rankin recorded one save as she earned her second shutout of the season. OSU then lost to Loyola Marymount in double overtime. Jamie Bell scored for the Lions with 50 seconds remaining in the match. The Cowgirls out shot Loyola for the game 13-8 and earned 7 corner kicks to just two for LMU. Each team had its chances in overtime before Loyola Marymount made good on an opportunity as time was running out. The loss ended a 43-game unbeaten streak against non-conference opponents.
Cowgirls Earn All-Tournament Honors
Siera Strawser, Adriane Radtke and Yolanda Odenyo were all named to the all-tournament team at the Loyola Marymount Tournament (Sept. 8-10). Strawser scored OSU's game winning goal against Cal Poly, while Radtke assisted on the play. Odenyo played solid defense in limiting Cal Poly to just three shots, and she took three shots herself against Loyola Marymount.
Stout Defense
Oklahoma State's defense has been solid limiting teams to just 43 shots. The Cowgirls have only allowed three goals all season and have out shot its opponent in every game. OSU has held five of six opponents to under 10 shots. Michigan State only took four shots and Cal Poly only took three shots against OSU. Jeanne Rankin has only had to make 11 saves on the season and has a 0.50 GAA, while recording two shutouts.
Strawser Making an Immediate Impact
Freshman Siera Strawser has made an immediate impact for Oklahoma State this fall. The Bixby, Okla. native has started every game and has registered a point in every contest with the exception of the Loyola Marymount game. Strawser leads the team with 11 points, third in the Big 12, on three goals and five assists. Her five assists are tied for the Big 12 lead.
Cowgirls on the Attack
Oklahoma State has outscored its opponents by a whopping 16-3 score this season. OSU has out shot its opponent in every game thus far. The Cowgirls have also earned 36 corner kicks through six games. The Cowgirls have been much more aggressive in the first half of games out shooting opponents 61-15 and earning 25 corner kicks to just three for the opposition. The Cowgirls have only taken 49 shots after halftime, while opponents have taken 28. However, goal production has been the same as the Cowgirls have scored eight goals in each half.
