2005: Darnell played in all 11 games last season and registered 25 total tackles. Included in that total was three tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Darnell was named Academic All-Big 12 for the third-straight year. He was credited with four tackles, including a half-sack in the win against Florida Atlantic. He had a season-high five tackles against Colorado and Texas A&M. 2004: In 12 games, Smith registered 25 total tackles, including three against Ohio State in the Alamo Bowl in his hometown of San Antonio. His season totals also included three sacks and a pass breakup. He made five primary tackles, including two sacks, against Texas Tech. He had five stops, including two for loss, a sack and a pass breakup against Baylor. He had one tackle against Texas and made two stops, including one for loss, against Missouri. He had two tackles against Texas A&M and started in the last four contests. He recorded one tackle against Colorado and made three stops against SMU. He had two tackles against Tulsa. Smith is a stellar student-athlete, earning academic All-Big 12 and District VI Academic honors. 2003: Smith earned his first letter by appearing in 11 of the Cowboys' 13 games. He registered four tackles on the season. 2002: His redshirt season at Oklahoma State. High School: Smith earned all-district and co-Defensive Most Valuable Player honors in his district after finishing with 197 total tackles, six sacks, three fumbles caused and one fumble recovery. He was coached by Lee Bridges at Taft High School. His senior team was runner-up in Texas Class 5A in 2000. He was also recruited by Texas Tech, Purdue and Rice. Personal: Born Jan. 31, 1984, in Lakenheath, England, Darnell is the son of Randolph and Imagene Smith. He has one brother and a sister. He lists weightlifting, drawing and basketball as his hobbies. Darnell is majoring in economics and international business at Oklahoma State.
