Cowboys Wind Down Preseason Workouts as 2006 Kickoff Nears
August 18, 2006 | Cowboy Football
The Oklahoma State football team, continued preseason workouts with a two and a half hour Thursday evening workout in Stillwater.
Overall, head coach Mike Gundy is excited about the teams improvement day-to-day.
“We made some good plays today and we are getting a little better each day,” he said. “We have to push through these next two days, and then we will be back in school and on a normal routine. The guys are working hard and we are getting a lot out of practice right now.”
Gundy also stated he has seen improvement along the Cowboy offensive line.
“I think we are getting closer,” said Gundy of the offensive front. “We are working Kurt Seifried in there at guard. He (coach Wickline) still rotates three guards through so a lot of guys work there.”
One good problem the Cowboy coaching staff potentially faces is how to split up carries among the Cowboys' talented running backs during practice.
“There really is (enough snaps) because of preseason workouts. If we were in a game week you would be a little concerned about reps because of all the different players we have who can run the football,” said Gundy. “Right now we get a lot of work in practice. When you are out there for two and a half hours you get a lot of work and yoi maximize your reps.”
Gundy said the coaching staff is still a ways form deciding how to divide up the snaps come game time.
OSU Loses Receiver
Mike Gundy announced after practice that Anthony Parks, a junior receiver from Olathe, Kan., will not play this season due to health reasons.
