Cowgirls Picked Seventh, Odenyo Named Preseason All-Big 12

Texas A&M was picked to defend its Big 12 title earning seven of the 11 first-place votes. Nebraska and Texas each had two first-place votes and were picked second and third, respectively.Â
Colorado and Kansas rounded out the top five, while Oklahoma was voted just ahead of the Cowgirls at sixth. Missouri, Iowa State, Baylor and Texas Tech rounded out the poll.
Odenyo, a junior midfielder from Uppsala, Sweden, was one of 12 players selected from around the league to represent the preseason all-conference team. She is the first player from Oklahoma State to earn that distinction. Odenyo scored seven goals and registered five assists in her first season with the Cowgirls.
Texas led the way with four players selected, while Texas A&M had three All-Big 12 selections
OSU opens with an exhibition game against Mississippi on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Oxford, Miss. The Cowgirls season is opener on the road at Texas State on Aug. 25 with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. The Cowgirls open up at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex against Missouri State on Aug. 27 at 1 p.m.
