Cowgirls Earn All-Academic Honor

“We are proud of our team,” Cowgirl head coach Rene Sepulveda said. “This is a big accomplishment for our girls not only to be recognized athletically, but also academically.”
As a team, OSU compiled a 3.121 grade point average as they were one of four teams selected from the Big 12 Conference, which also included Iowa State, Kansas State and Missouri.
The USTFCCCA honors individuals and teams for their academic and athletic accomplishments during the indoor and outdoor track seasons. Seventy-six Division I women's teams had cumulative a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
The teams were selected based on a combination of athletic and academic achievement.
OSU members Eva Slavikova, Eva Tomankova and Deleanor Kirkpatrick all earned the individual All-Academic honor. Slavikova, a senior-to-be from Teplice, Czech Republic had the highest grade point average of the four with a GPA of 3.899. Tomankova, a junior from Rodinov, Czech Republic finished the year with a 3.845 GPA, while Kirkpatrick, a junior from Prairie View, Texas received the honor after posting a 3.333 GPA.
To qualify individually for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, an athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and must have met the NCAA Division I regional or national qualifying standard in her event.
Stanford was named the All-Academic Team of the Year with a 3.231 team GPA, and posted the most individual student-athletes on the All-Academic Team with 10.
