July 19, 2006 | Cowboy Golf
In the round of 16, Bratton outlasted Oklahoma City's Daniel Mitchell in 20 holes to move on to an afternoon quarterfinal matchup against Austin Quinten of Sand Springs. A 3 and 2 victory over Quinten set up a semifinal match against Tulsa's Mark Johnson at 8 a.m. tomorrow for Bratton.
The former Cowboy All-American advanced to the match play bracket after carding a 71 during the stroke play portion of the event. In his first round match on Tuesday, he defeated Baer Aneshansley, 5 and 4, before defeating Joby Dutcher 3 and 2 to move into today's action.
Bratton, who will be entering his third year as an assistant coach at his alma mater, competed last month in the Oklahoma Stroke Play Championship at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club, finishing seventh with an even-par 216 total.
