A five-run sixth inning fueled the Cowboys' come-from-behind win as OSU improved to 41-19 on the season. Coach Frank Anderson's squad must now defeat Oral Roberts twice to advance to a Super Regional. They will face the Golden Eagles tonight at 7:07, and an OSU win would send the two teams to a decisive game Monday at 7 p.m.
The Razorbacks, who finished their season 39-21, sent the go-ahead run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth, but OSU left fielder Ty Wright sealed the win for the Cowboys with a running catch at the wall in left-centerfield to rob UA's Brian Walker of an extra-base hit that likely would have brought home the tying run.
Oliver Odle earned the win on the mound as the junior right hander worked 6.1 innings and allowed four runs, three of them earned, on seven hits. He improved to 5-4 on the season.
Freshman Jordy Mercer picked up the save for the Cowboys, his team-high fifth of the season. The righty allowed just one run on two hits and struck out three over the final 2.1 innings. Mercer was also 2-for-3 at the plate in the contest.
OSU trailed 3-0 going into the sixth inning, but the Cowboys finally got to
The rally started with a leadoff home run by Corey Brown, his second round tripper of the regional and 13th of the season. The Cowboys used another homer, this one a three-run shot by Adam Carr, to take their first lead later in the frame, and then took a 5-3 advantage on an RBI single by Matt Clarkson.
OSU's final run came in the eighth, this one on another single by Clarkson to make the score 6-4.
