Fields Earns Spot On 2006 All-Star Futures Game Roster

The all-star exhibition's teams are comprised of 50 of baseball's top minor league prospects, with Major League Baseball combining with Baseball America to select the 25 players for each roster. The 2006 Futures Game will pit the United States team against the World squad in a game played in conjunction with Major League Baseball's All-Star Weekend. The Futures Game will be played at PNC Park in Pittsburgh on All-Star Sunday, July 9, at 3 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN2.
Fields, who starred in both baseball and football for the Cowboys from 2002-04, was a first-round draft pick (18th overall) of the Chicago White Sox in 2004 and is now playing for the Triple A Charlotte Knights. A third baseman, Fields is hitting .318 with 11 home runs and 38 RBIs and is among the International League leaders in runs (43), extra-base hits (33), slugging percentage (.556) doubles (20) and hits (76).
