Victor DeGrate

2005: A year ago, DeGrate was one of the top defensive players for the Cowboys. He recorded 53 tackles, a team-leading 11 tackles for loss, and five sacks. He was named All-Big 12 honorable mention by both the coaches and media. Victor had three tackles for loss and a sack against Florida Atlantic. His best game of the year might have come against the national champion Texas Longhorns when he had nine tackles, including two for a loss as well as a sack. He registered two sacks in the win against Texas Tech. 2004: DeGrate did not play against Baylor, Texas Tech or Ohio State due to injury. He had one tackle, a seven-yard sack, and also forced a fumble against Texas. He made three tackles with a pass breakup against Oklahoma and had three tackles against Missouri. He finished with five tackles against Texas A&M and had a tackle in the win over Colorado. He finished with three tackles and half-sack against SMU and had three primary tackles against Tulsa. He had two stops against UCLA. 2003: DeGrate started the final three games of the regular season at linebacker plus the bowl game. He finished third on the team with 76 tackles on the year. He also had four tackles for loss, a quarterback sack and two pass breakups. He led the team in tackles in each of the final four games of the season and recorded three double-digit tackle games as well. DeGrate posted a career- best 15 stops against Kansas, including a pass breakup. Victor made his first career start against Texas and led the team with nine stops. High School: One of the most talented players in Texas, DeGrate committed to OSU in December of his senior year. He was co-Defensive Player of the Year and first-team all-district after his senior season at DeSoto High School. Victor had more than 100 tackles as both a junior and senior, including 90 tackles and 30 assists his senior season. He had five sacks as a junior. One recruiting magazine labeled him one of the Metroplex's top defenders in 2002. DeGrate was also recruited by Arizona, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas. Personal: Born Feb. 8, 1985, Victor is the son of Victor, Sr., and Wanda DeGrate. He has two sisters, LaQuinta and Shanice; and a brother, Michael. Victor is majoring in eduation at Oklahoma State.
