June 19, 2006 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER, Okla.,- Freshman Anissa Angelosante will represent Oklahoma State's women's track and field team Wednesday at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships, in Indianapolis at the IU Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium.
“This is a very good meet for any junior competitor because they will be around some of the best athletes in the United States,” Cowgirl head coach Rene Sepulveda said.
Angelosante is the first Cowgirl to qualify for the meet, since Alison Erzinger ran the 400-meter hurdle in 2002.
The Kingsland, Texas native will look to have a strong showing as she is set to compete against nine other runners in the 5,000-meter run.
“I believe Anissa will gain very good experience that she can use throughout her career at OSU,” Sepulveda said.
The top three runners in the event will advance to the World Outdoor Track and Field Championships, in Beijing.
The 5k run is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
