Mach Added To 2006 Wallace Watch List

Mach, a junior third baseman for the Cowboys, leads the Big 12 Conference with a .405 batting average and also tops the league in home runs (16), RBIs (62) and hits (77). The Kent, Wash. native has hit safely in 33 of his last 34 games, including a current 17-game hitting streak.
The Wallace Award is presented annually to the national college baseball player of the year. The selection committee will narrow the list of finalists to three following the NCAA Super Regionals and make that announcement June 15 in Omaha, Neb. The selection committee is comprised of a national panel of preeminent coaches, sports information directors, former winners and beat media who most closely follow college baseball.
