Cowboy Runners Head to Austin for NCAA Regional Meet

Cowboys senior Sean McCabe will compete in the 1,500-meter run. The Duncan, Okla., native highlighted his outstanding senior season by qualifying for his second regional meet at the Stanford Invitational in April.
“Sean has had a great year up until this point and this is where it gets very tough,” said Oklahoma State assistant coach Dave Smith. “This kid has worked so hard to get here.”
Ryan Vail, a redshirt freshman from Gresham, Ore., also qualified at the Stanford Invitational and will represent the Cowboys in the 5,000-meter run.
“I feel like Ryan has a great shot,” said Smith. “He has been planning for this meet since he qualified and I feel that he has a great shot at Nationals.”
Joe Gray, a junior from Tacoma, Wash., will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the Pokes. Gray missed qualifying for nationals by three seconds in last year's regional meet. He qualified for this year's regional meet at the Stanford Invitational.
“Joe has a good chance of qualifying for nationals because of his ranking coming into this meet,” said Smith. “Even if he doesn't finish in the top five, he still as a chance at an at-large bid.”
Junior Terry Josserand will compete in the 400-meter hurdles after qualifying for the event at the Texas Relays back in April.
“He worked a lot with (former Cowboy great) Jim Boldin and that has helped him a lot,” said Smith. “He is such a hard worker and he has put a lot of work into this.”
The event, which is being held at Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium, is set to kick off at 1 p.m. on Friday with track events starting at 4 p.m.
