WACO, Texas - Oklahoma State dropped its second game in Waco as No. 22 Baylor used a pair of three-run innings to clinch a series win with an 8-2 triumph on Saturday at Baylor Ballpark.
The Cowboys remained winless in five games on the road in Big 12 Conference action and dropped to 3-5 in league play and 18-10 overall.
OSU struck first in its opening at bat. Justin Colbert walked to lead off the top of the first, and a single by Steve Ptak put runners on first and third. Colbert scored when Tyler Mach grounded into a double play to give the Cowboys a 1-0 lead.
Baylor (21-11, 6-5) answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning against OSU starter Brae Wright to take a 2-1 lead. Zach Dillon drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly, with Kevin Russo's RBI single also plating a run.
In the third, the Bears rallied for three runs, all of them unearned. Russo drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly. A two-out single by Tim Jackson made the score 4-1, and an RBI double by Matt Sodolak pushed BU's lead to four.
OSU scored its final run of the contest when Tyler Mach homered to lead off the fourth inning. The blast was Mach's team leading seventh home run of the season and extended the Cowboy third baseman's hitting streak to 16 games.
Following Mach's homer, the Cowboys loaded the bases with two outs but failed to score when Keanon Simon fouled out to end the inning. OSU left nine runners stranded on the basepaths in the contest.
BU erupted for three more runs in the fourth and drove Wright from the game. Kevin Sevigny got the scoring started with an RBI single, and Beamer Weems doubled to bring home another run. The final run came on an RBI single by Dillon, who along with Russo was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the contest.
Baylor starter Cory VanAllen picked up the win as he allowed just two runs on five hits in improving to 4-3 on the season. The junior southpaw struck out six and walked two in six innings of work. Jeff Mandel did not surrender a hit in three innings of relief to earn his seventh save.
Wright suffered the loss for OSU, giving up six runs  just two of them earned  in three innings to fall to 3-2 on the season. Freshman Jeff Breedlove came on in relief for the Cowboys and pitched 4.1 scoreless innings to close out the game. The right hander struck out three and allowed just two hits.
Offensively, Ptak collected two of OSU's five hits, while Mach had the Cowboys' lone RBI.
Sunday's series finale is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
