Cowgirls Seek Revenge in Second Bedlam Matchup

Oklahoma State will head south for the second Bedlam matchup of the year when it travels to Norman to face Oklahoma at Marita Hynes Field on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will be aired locally on 105.5 FM with Boll Van Ness providing play-by-play, and it will be televised by Cox Cable with Brian Brinkley and Kenny Mossman. The Sooners took the first game as nothing went right for the Cowgirls and OU went on to a comfortable 15-1 victory. OSU has been playing much better of late winners of three of its last five games to get to 19-24 overall and 5-10 in the Big 12. OU is 29-18-1 on the season and tied with OSU for sixth with a 5-10 league mark. The Sooners are coming off of a split with Iowa State, while OSU dropped two games to No. 19 Baylor. OU is led offensively by Norrelle Dickson and Kristin Vesely hitting .452 and .447, respectively. D.J. Mathis, who recorded the win in the first game, is 10-6 in the circle with a 2.82 ERA.
Tweed Completes Sweep of Texas Tech
After Oklahoma State defeated Texas Tech in the first game of a double header, The Cowgirls and Red Raiders needed extra innings in game two. with the score tied at two in the top of the ninth, Ashleigh Tweed delivered her fifth home run of the season and extended OSU's winning streak to three games. Tweed is second on the team with six homers and 24 RBIs.
Kitchens on Fire in Big 12 Play
Lauren Kitchens has been one of OSU's most consistent hitters at the plate. She has been even more so in conference play hitting safely in 13 of 15 Big 12 games thus far. She is 17-for-40 in conference play for a .425 average, tops in the Big 12. She had the Cowgirls only hit against Kansas and came around to score the winning run in the eighth inning. Kitchens went-2-for-2 against Oklahoma. She went 2-for-4 in a double header against Nebraska, including her third home run of the season. She went 3-for-6 in the series against Missouri, including a key two-run double. She had her only three-hit game of the season against Baylor and went 4-for-7 in the two-game series. Kitchens leads the team with a .350 average.
Hoppock Leads OSU Past Kansas
Oklahoma State was no hit through seven innings by Kansas starter Kassie Humphreys in the first game of a double header on Apr. 1. OSU starter Jessica Hoppock matched Humphreys pitch for pitch as she shut the Jayhawks down as well limiting KU to just five hits through seven. The Cowgirl offense took advantage as Lauren Kitchens led off the eighth with a single, moved to second on an error, moved to third on a sacrifice and scored on a ground ball to give Hoppock all the runs she would need as OSU won the game 1-0.
Scott Scores
Junior outfielder Shanel Scott became just the second Cowgirl in school history to score 100 runs for her career when she scored on Kim Kaye's double in the third inning against Iowa State (3/26). Scott needed just 142 games to reach the milestone and is now closing in on Jamie Foutch's career record of 122 runs scored. Scott already holds the school record in stolen bases. Her next milestone to reach will be 200 hits, she currently stands at 180 hits.
Totte Good for Two Bases
Junior Courtney Totte has quietly gone about her business and now sits fourth in school history in career doubles with 30. She has 12 doubles thus far this season and is close to her career high of 12 she set last season. Totte became the fourth player in school history with 30 doubles when she doubled against Baylor. Totte is approaching another milestone of 100 RBIs, she has 86 RBIs for her career. Jamie Foutch currently holds both records with 56 doubles and 163 RBIs.
