Kirkpatrick Qualifies for NCAA Regional Championships

LAWRENCE, Kan. Â– Oklahoma State sophomore Deleanor Kirkpatrick set a regional qualifying mark in the hammer throw Thursday at the first day of the Kansas Relays, in Lawrence, Kan.

Kirkpatrick, who became the seventh Cowgirl to qualify for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, threw a personal record toss of 177'11” (54.24-meters).

Kirkpatrick's mark moved her into third-place on OSU's all-time hammer throw record list, behind Delisa McClain and Nancy Guillen.

“I am very pleased with the Deleanor's performance,” throwing coach John Baumann said. “She has been working hard in practice and has shown a lot of improvement.”

Day two of the relays will continue Friday, as OSU will see action from sophomore LaKendra Greathouse in the shot put at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Stadium.
