Friday Practice Report Oklahoma State's football team wrapped up its fourth week of spring football workouts with the 12th of its 15 scheduled practices on Friday afternoon.
The Cowboys went through drills for one hour in front of approximately 300 fans before conducting a 50-play scrimmage to conclude the workout.
Quarterback Bobby Reid continued to impress, completing 14 of his 20 pass attempts for 227 yards and one touchdown. The Houston native connected with wideout Adarius Bowman for a 42-yard scoring strike.
“Bobby (Reid) is playing better than he was a week ago. Obviously, he is playing better than he was at the end of last year,” head coach Mike Gundy said. “He has the physical tools to be a really good player. He is also better mentally than he was at this time last year. It is his second year in the system and he has a better feel for what is going on. He has to continue to work hard.”
A 41-yard touchdown reception from Alex Cate to Tommy Devereaux provided the day's other pass play that resulted in a touchdown.
Running back Mike Hamilton added a 2-yard touchdown run, while fellow running back Chris Offor added a pair of 5-yard scoring runs during red zone drills.
“There were some big hits out there,” Gundy said. “Offensively, we were able to complete some passes. The running backs did a good job of taking care of the football. It was a really good scrimmage today.”
On the defensive side of the ball, safety Andre Sexton provided a pair of quarterback sacks to lead the way.
“I wanted the defense to move around and strip the football and they did,” Gundy commented. “They stripped the football twice. We did not do a good job of that last year. It was good today.”
The Cowboys will return to the field on Monday for a 3 p.m. practice and will wrap up spring drills on Saturday, April 22 with the Spring Game at 5 p.m.
