Pablo Martin Selected To European Palmer Cup Team
April 14, 2006 | Cowboy Golf
Oklahoma State sophomore Pablo Martin has been named to the European Palmer Cup squad it was announced today. The annual Ryder Cup-style competition between American collegiate golfers and their counterparts from Europe will be played June 29-30, on the 6,544 yard, par 71 Prestwick Golf Club. The European squad - which trails the United States 5-3-1 - represents players from six different nations.
Martin, a native of Malaga, Spain, will be competing in the event for the second consecutive year after posting a 1-2-1 record at Whistling Straits Irish Course in 2005. He is now the second OSU player to become a two-time selection, joining former Cowboy Alex Norén, who competed for Europe in 2004 and 2005.
Martin will be joined on the squad by Alejandro Cañizares of Arizona State, East Tennessee State's Rhys Davies, Oscar Floren of Texas Tech, Georgia State's Mark Haastrup, Stephen Lewton of NC State, Randstad Topsport Academie Rotterdam's Joost Luiten and Stirling's Richard Ramsey.
