Cowboys Wrap Up Day Five of Spring Workouts
March 30, 2006 | Cowboy Football
The Cowboys practiced for approximately 2 1/2 hours in full pads and helmets on the grass practice fields.
Head coach Mike Gundy said the team put in several new plays and got in a good day of workouts.
“It was a good workout today,” said Gundy. “The defense moved around well. On offense we put in considerably more plays than we have in the first few days of practice.”
Gundy said the new plays lead to some mistakes, but that is what spring drills are for.
“That leads to some guys making some mistakes out here,” said Gundy. “I told the team after practice that mistakes are going to be made in spring football, especially when you have freshmen playing. This is what spring is for.”
Junior defensive end Nathan Peterson, who will look to improve the Cowboy pass rush next season, said one thing has really stood out this spring.
“The intensity has impressed me the most about this team during the spring,” said Peterson. “The competition level has been higher, and you can see it on the field.”
The Cowboys will resume spring practice on the grass practice fields on Friday at 3 p.m.
Spring workouts will finish with the annual Spring Game, scheduled for 5 p.m., on Saturday, April 22 at Boone Pickens Stadium.
